The content and relationship of transaction costs with the problems of economic transformation

Abstract

Economic reforms in the Ukrainian agri-food sector, aimed at improving the efficiency of this sector, have not led to the expected results. Most of the problems in the functioning of the economic mechanism are determined by such phenomena as mismatch of economic interests of partners, non-equivalent exchange of products and services, different interpretations of rights and obligations, etc. These inconsistencies cause difficulties faced by agri-food organizations in selling products, using production services, and in their relations with governing bodies and public authorities. These problems and contradictions lead to the emergence and growth of transaction costs. According to existing estimates, the transaction sector occupies a significant (about 30%) place in the national economy, which makes economists develop methods and ways to reduce transaction costs
