Networking in the innovation ecosystem provides opportunities for the exchange of creative ideas, technologies for promoting innovative solutions, and the application of the model of "open innovation", which provides a synergy effect from the joint efforts of government, science and business. Among different types of innovation systems, the innovation ecosystem is distinguished by its versatility and integration. The aim of the article is to determine the optimal forms of legal regulation of innovation ecosystems and create a mechanism for updating the conditions of their functioning in accordance with changes in the environment of innovation. A critical analysis of different positions the legal status of the innovation ecosystem, its impact on the economy and social sphere. In modern innovation ecosystems there is a collective use of free resources (material, financial, intellectual) to increase the efficiency of their operation, reduce production and transaction costs. The innovation ecosystem has its own market mechanisms of self-development, it is regulated by the “bottom” method, which allows it to better adapt to changing environmental conditions. Recommendations for intensifying innovation activities by establishing relationships between participants in the innovation process on a parity basis and the degree of implementation of strategic goals. The successful operation of innovation ecosystems should be based on dynamic development due to the synergy of knowledge and efforts of participants while maintaining a balance of interests of the parties. Ecosystems are not constrained by spatial boundaries and can operate virtually, which expands the boundaries of their activities.
